2 films As part of Tyne Valley Film Festival and ACA’s current project CONTINUUM, ACA will present a double sci-fi feature at The Old Schoolhouse Allenheads.

Le Voyage dans la Lune, (A Trip to the Moon) Georges Méliès  1902 (16 mins) Regarded as the earliest sc fi film and one of the most influential films in cinema history Le Voyage dans la Lune drew upon Jules Verne and H. G. Wells in its depiction of a spacecraft being launched to the moon from a large cannon. The films ground-breaking special effects pioneered the way for future science-fiction films.

A.I. Artificial Intelligence by Steven Spielberg 2001 (146 mins) David, a robotic boy (Haley Joel Osment) is the first A.I. robot to be programmed to love and is adopted as a test case by a Cybertronics employee (Sam Robards) and his wife (Frances O'Connor). Though he gradually becomes their child, a series of unexpected circumstances make this life impossible for David. Without final acceptance by humans or machines, David embarks on a journey to discover where he truly belongs, uncovering a world in which the line between robot and machine is both vast and profoundly thin.​
